Privacy Notice

Last updated: July 1, 2026. This plain-language notice explains how Urban Garden Atlas handles information submitted to the site.

Information we collect

Submissions may include public display name, private email, country, city, colonia/neighborhood if submitted, garden type, garden story/details, photos/images, image notes or alt text, and moderation/admin notes if applicable. The site may also receive technical logs and analytics data.

Public and private fields

Email is private and used for contact about the submission. Approved public garden details/photos may be published, including display name, country, city, neighborhood when safe, garden type, story, plants, and images. Exact private contact details are not published.

How we use submissions

We use information to review submissions, prevent spam or unsafe content, publish approved urban garden examples, operate the site, respond to questions, and understand basic site performance. Submissions may be edited for privacy, safety, clarity, formatting, or moderation.

Business and aggregated data use

We do not sell your private contact information. We may use public submissions and aggregated, non-identifying site trends to improve Urban Garden Atlas, create reports, work with partners, sponsors, or advertisers, and support the site as a business. Aggregated insights do not identify individual submitters.

Sharing and third parties

The site may use Supabase for database services, Cloudflare Pages for hosting and logs, and Google Analytics if a measurement ID is configured. Service providers may process information for hosting, storage, analytics, security, or site operations.

Moderation and safety

New submissions remain pending until reviewed. Please do not include exact addresses, children’s faces, license plates, private documents, or photos of people who did not agree to appear.

Children under 13

The site is not intended for children under 13, and submitters must confirm they are at least 13 and have permission to submit the content.

International access

The project focuses first on Mexico and the United States, but people may access it from other places. Your information may be processed by service providers in locations outside your country.

Retention, correction, and removal

We keep submissions as long as needed for moderation, public display, site operations, safety, or recordkeeping unless deletion is requested and retention is no longer needed. To request deletion, correction, or removal, email admin@urbangardenatlas.com.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards for a community site, but no internet service can guarantee perfect security.

Changes and questions

We may update this notice as the project or services change. For privacy questions, email admin@urbangardenatlas.com.

Moderated garden questions

Garden owners may opt in to receive moderated visitor questions. Questions are reviewed before they are sent to an owner or published. Owner answers are reviewed before publication. We may edit questions and answers for privacy, safety, clarity, formatting, and moderation. Private asker and owner emails are not shown publicly. Inappropriate questions may be rejected, abusive emails may be blocked, and published Q&A becomes part of the public site. You can request removal or correction at admin@urbangardenatlas.com.

Age rule

Urban Garden Atlas is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit personal information if you are under 13. If you are under 18, use the site only with permission from a parent or guardian.
